New Plate Issuance & Reserve Process

Beginning May 1, 2025, Chickadee design plates will no longer be issued and are being replaced with the new Pine Tree plate.  After May 1, 2025 when you come in to re-register your vehicle (or do a first time registration) you will receive the new Pine Tree plate.

For registrants that currently have a PC plate (meaning a regular chickadee plate) you will have to option of choosing the plate with the blue star and pine tree OR the plate with no star and no tree.

Registrants that have a chickadee plate that is NOT a PC (meaning Commercial, Antique, Disabled, etc.) will only have to option of the plate with the star and tree.

Registrants that currently have a chickadee vanity plate, OR like the number of their current chickadee plate, may reserve their plate number/lettering for a fee of $25.

You can do this 1 of 4 ways:

  1.  Reserve online at maine.gov/online/reservemyplate
  2.  Reserve through the Rapid Renewal website.
  3.  Reserve at a branch location.
  4.  Reserve by mailing the Application to Reserve a Plate Number (MV-62, which can be obtained at your Town Office or at Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Registrations (maine.gov)) to the Administrative Office.  Tractor plates (TR) may only be reserved through this manual process.

Any questions regarding reserving plates can be emailed to [email protected]

You always have to option of choosing a “specialty plate” for an additional yearly fee if you do not like the new plates.

If you have any other questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to the Town Office at (207) 587-2911 or email [email protected]
