Job Posting – Admin Assistant: Administrative Assistant to Select BoardTown ClerkTown of Mercer, Somerset County The Town of Mercer, population of 709, is seeking an administrative assistant to oversee town affairs, working under the general direction of the Select Board.  This is a supervisory position with minimal oversight from the board.  Job may require that candidate be willing to serve as tax collector and treasurer.  Candidate should be an effective communicator, possess good organizational abilities, demonstrate task-oriented leadership skills and be detail-oriented.  Fund accounting and tax collecting experience a plus.  Duties include attending municipal officers and budget committee meetings, interacting with the public and public speaking, grant writing, rental of the Mercer Community Center (space, tables and chairs), management of current contracts and lease agreements.  Town clerk responsibilities include administering all state and local elections, maintaining vital records, dog licensing & records management).  Willingness to learn tax collection (commitment through lien process) and treasurer (investments, fund accounting, budgeting and grant administration) duties a plus.  Deputy(s) will assist in carrying out above duties. BID NOTICE – Shed Removal

2025 Shed and Slab Removal

 

Description of Project: The Town of Mercer, Maine, is seeking to secure a contractor for the removal of a shed and concrete slab, grading/finish work, digging of an 18” ditch and the removal of 5 trees and some miscellaneous shrubs as outlined below:

1. Demolish a 12’9” x 16’4” vinyl-sided, metal roof shed located to the right of the Mercer Town Office.

2. Demolish and remove the 12’5” x 38’8” x 8” concrete slab under said shed.

3. Remove dirt/gravel to below grade and install 12” of crushed granite gravel base to support future pavement.

4. Remove 5 trees to make way for an approximately 100’ long by 18” deep conduit trench to go on a diagonal from the front of the Town Office to the trees.

5. Remove shrubs and a tree stump to the right of the Town Office entrance.

 

Scope of Project: The project includes the demolition of an existing shed, concrete slab, and the removal of old fill to the right of the Mercer Town Office, as well as the addition of 12” of crushed granite gravel base to prepare for pavement. The project also includes the removal of 2 shrubs and a tree stump in the front of the Town Office as well as the removal of 5 trees to the right of the Town Office to make way for an 18” trench which then needs to be dug from the front corner of the Town Office to a slab by the back parking lot located to the right of the Town Office.

The Town will provide a dumpster for all structural debris. All landscaping debris will need to be hauled to the lot directly adjacent to the Town property, but the concrete slab must be hauled away by the contractor. Dig Safe will be contacted in advance by the Town, and the Town has blueprints showing the location of underground power lines to the parking lot lights. Pictures are available upon request.

Work can commence at contractor’s discretion but must be finished by the end of May, 2025. Preparation of Bid: Each bid must give the full name, address, phone number and email of the bidder and be signed by an authorized representative or official of the entity bidding. Bid will consist of equipment, material and labor costs per site to complete the project and estimated timeframe to complete said work.

The successful bidder shall provide proof of liability insurance or the ability to obtain insurance for the amount specified in the Contract.

The Municipal Officers may accept or reject any or all bids.
