TOWN OF MERCER

2025 Shed and Slab Removal

Description of Project: The Town of Mercer, Maine, is seeking to secure a contractor for the removal of a shed and concrete slab, grading/finish work, digging of an 18” ditch and the removal of 5 trees and some miscellaneous shrubs as outlined below:

1. Demolish a 12’9” x 16’4” vinyl-sided, metal roof shed located to the right of the Mercer Town Office.

2. Demolish and remove the 12’5” x 38’8” x 8” concrete slab under said shed.

3. Remove dirt/gravel to below grade and install 12” of crushed granite gravel base to support future pavement.

4. Remove 5 trees to make way for an approximately 100’ long by 18” deep conduit trench to go on a diagonal from the front of the Town Office to the trees.

5. Remove shrubs and a tree stump to the right of the Town Office entrance.

Scope of Project: The project includes the demolition of an existing shed, concrete slab, and the removal of old fill to the right of the Mercer Town Office, as well as the addition of 12” of crushed granite gravel base to prepare for pavement. The project also includes the removal of 2 shrubs and a tree stump in the front of the Town Office as well as the removal of 5 trees to the right of the Town Office to make way for an 18” trench which then needs to be dug from the front corner of the Town Office to a slab by the back parking lot located to the right of the Town Office.

The Town will provide a dumpster for all structural debris. All landscaping debris will need to be hauled to the lot directly adjacent to the Town property, but the concrete slab must be hauled away by the contractor. Dig Safe will be contacted in advance by the Town, and the Town has blueprints showing the location of underground power lines to the parking lot lights. Pictures are available upon request.

Work can commence at contractor’s discretion but must be finished by the end of May, 2025. Questions regarding the project or to view the scope of work on location, contact either 1st selectperson, Gary Mosher (207) 431-1353; 2nd selectperson Matt Fortunato (207) 313-8297; or 3rd selectperson Karen Martin (207) 313-2016.
