Starting Friday morning, August 14th, 2026, and continuing until the project’s completion, there will be no through-traffic access on the paved (Rome end) of Rome Road. Access will be restricted to local traffic and residents, and they may need to seek an alternate route depending on their location within the construction zone.

 

Traffic from the (Rome end) of Rome Road will be detoured at Worster Hill Road. Access to Mercer will be via Ladd Road or continue to Smithfield.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON ROME ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT:

Route 2 access to Rome Road will also be restricted to local traffic, while other traffic will be detoured to Beech Hill Road. Again, residents should be prepared for potential rerouting depending on the work zone.

 

This closure was not anticipated and should not be prolonged. However, the closure hours will be from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the road will be open during the weekend. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this work. It will be worth the inconvenience!
